Nurses Sensitize on the spread of Zoonotic diseases in Bauchi State.

Health workers in Bauchi state enjoined to be more suspicious of Lassa fever to stamp the spread of the disease.

This called was made during sensitisation of members of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and midwives Bauchi state chapter, organized by State primary Health care development agency in collaboration with USAID Breakthrough action Nigeria.

Speaking on the overview of Lassa fever in the state, one of the facilitator Dr Abdulmajid Yakubu said the state is among the epic center with high number of Lassa fever cases during dry season in the country.

He said last year thirty four health care workers were infected by the Lassa fever hence the need for more sensitization on index of high suspicious by Health care givers.

Dr Abdulmajid Yakubu charged the health care workers to be reporting suspected cases for early diagnosis of zoonotic disease in the state.

In an interview with the State chairman National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives Ibrahim Maikudi Called on the Health Authorities to always provide personnel protective equipments to health workers to stamp the spread of infectious diseases among Health workers in the state.

Nurse Ibrahim Maikudi who commended the organisers for sensitizing his members on the infectious diseases assured that the union would continue to ensure their members observe safety standard while discharging their responsibilities.

Some of the participants Samaila Mato Jahun and Nura Bakoji promised to step down the knowledge acquired to their colleagues at their verious Facilities across the state.

Other diseases discussed during the sensitization include Rabies and Bovine TB.
