Omicron: Bauchi State Government to Open Vaccination Centers in Worship Centers, Schools.

In an effort to discourage the spread of the new Omicron Virus before, during and after Christmas and New year celebrations, the Bauchi State government has ordered the establishment of vaccination centres in places of worship, markets and tertiary institutions across the state.

The State Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Task Force on Covid-19 Senator Baba Tela made this known in continuation of the stakeholders meeting in Government House Bauchi.

Senator Baba Tela said the State Government will ensure strick compliance to non pharmaceutical measures and public health advices noting that the approach which yelded positive results in the fight with Covid-19, is also applicable to Omicron Virus.

The Deputy Governor while calling for Imams, Pastors and clergies to compliment the government’s efforts through proper guidance of their followers advised those who are yet to receive first or second doses of the vaccine to visit any nearest hospital to get vaccinated.

He restated the commitment of government and the committee towards protecting the citizens from contracting any form of disease and called for collaborative efforts in risk communication and sensitization of people especially in rural areas.

Earlier, the Chairman of the State Primary Healthcate Development Agency Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad who described Omicron as the virus of concern emphasized the need for adoption of Covid-19 safety measures in mitigating the effects.

While assuring their continuous commitment, Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad called for the support of the state government and donor agencies in that direction.

The meeting has in attendance, top government officials, representative of relevant department and agencies, security agents, Community and religious leaders.
