One hundred farmers have been trained on new techniques to protect lakes and forests in Bauchi.

One hundred farmers from the niegbouring Lakes and forests in Bauchi State have been trained on new farming techniques to conserve and protect Lakes and Forest reserves .
The training was organised by Nigerian Conservation Foundation NCF in collaboration with the Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation and Misau local Government held in Maladumba Lake ,Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Zonal Coordinator of foundation Alhaji Mohammed Garba Boyi said there is need for farmers to preserve the ecosystem to become natural friendly to the natural habitats in the lakes.
“You should be conscious on the way and manner you interface or interact the ecosystem for a sustainable development “
Alhaji Mohammad Garba pointed out that the habitats in the lake are so important to mankind hence the need for farmers to safeguard them.
“The training was aimed at encouraging Farmers to imbibe the concept of sustainable farming techniques so as to reduce the impact of the current farming activities in the lakes,hence it is a very critical ecosystem that serves as habitat for water birds ,fish ,and many other aquatic plants”
Also Speaking the General Manager Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation Malam Muhammad Nasiru Yusuf who expressed delight for the gesture by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation said there is need for farmers to be guided and farm inline with laid down specifications for sustainable development.
On his part the Hamlet Head of Sumawa Sarkina Shehu who appreciate the foundation,pledge their resolve to support in preserving the lake and forest, urged the farmers to put into practice what they have learnt.
