President Buhari to flag-off Eastern rail corridor.
President Muhammadu Buhari will today, Tuesday, perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Eastern Rail Corridor otherwise known as the Port Harcourt, Maiduguri rail line.
The narrow-gauge rail project was approved by the Federal Executive Council in October last year at a cost of N3bn.
The project would also cover the construction of a deep seaport in Bonny Rivers State and a railway industrial park in Port Harcourt.
The reconstructed narrow-gauge rail project would have new lines from Bonny to Port Harcourt and from Port Harcourt to Owerri.
According to the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, new routes would be added to Abakaliki and Awka as requested by the President.
