Rabies: Sensitization Intensified to achieve hard immune Communities in Bauchi.

Dog owners have been enjoned to vaccinate their dogs against rabies disease annually.
This Call was made known during the Community Sensitization and Integrated Human and Animal Vaccine Campaign as part of 2023 Commomeration of World Rabies day Organise by the Bauchi State Ministry of Agriculture in Collaboration withbthe State Ministry of Health, Environment and development Patners held in Dass Local government area, Bauchi State.
Speaking the area Vetenary Officer Dass Localocal government Dr Hauwa Caleb said the sensitization was necessary considering the frequent rabies cases being recorded in the area.
She appreciates the dog owners for turning out in numbers with their dogs to take the vaccine.
In a Remark the Secretary Nigeria Vetenary Medical association Bauchi State Chapter Dr Sadiq Sirajo explain that rabies disease is deadly and has no cure.
The Secretary mentioned some of the symptoms of rabies disease to include dogs biting an animate object, readiness of the eyes, drolling among others.
“The desease is of public health importance as it continues reoccurring is alerming “
He appeal to dog owners to ensure the are vaccineated against the disease as well as their dogs.
One of the dog owner Nafisatu Musa said she has been rearing dogs for over thirty years but she was ones scared of dog when one of its dogs infected by the rabies disease.
Nafisatu Musa commended Bauchi state government and Patners for vaccinating Human and dogs against Rabies disease in the area.
