Senate President inaugurates 120 Bed capacity healthcare centre, Skills Acquisition center in Gashua .

The Senate President Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan has inaugurated a 120 bed Capacity Mother and Childcare center named after President Muhammadu Buhari and Skill acquisition center in Gashua town, Bade Local Government Area of Yobe state.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, Senator Ahmed Lawan said the two projects were part of 2021 Sustainable Development Goals projects in collaboration with the office the Senate President and the Yobe state government.
The Mother and Child Center named after President Muhammadu Buhari and the Skill acquisition center are among similar projects being executed by the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs to actualize the SDGs gaols of creating access to quality healthcare and poverty reduction.
The Senate President Ahmed Lawan said the interventions in health sector and poverty reduction through skill acquisitions were meant to complement government effort in reducing Maternal Mortality and to create job opportunities for women and Youth.
“This Hospital, from the moment it starts operation, it would be one Hospital that we hope will provide all the opportunities available through the state of the art facilities here to take care of our mothers.
The state Government has done well towards improving health of the citizens, and therefore, what we do is to provide a kind of support to complement the efforts”, said the Senate President.
He explained that as representatives of the people, they would continue to support government policies and programmed aimed at improving the welfare and wellbeing of the electorates.
Similarly, Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni represented by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr. Abubakar Garba Iliya pointed out that, the provision of the Mother and Child centre in Gashua would surely complement the efforts of the state Government of enduring improved health status of the citizens through creating access to quality healthcare services
Governor Buni said his administration was investing in the state owned health training institutions to meet the manpower requirements of the health sector.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Adejoke Orelope Adefulire said, her office would continue to collaborate with relevant institutions to ensure the actualization of the SDGs goals in Nigeria by 2030 as promised by the President Muhammadu Buhari.
She explained that the new Healthcare centers consist of private ward, intensive care units for babies and mothers, standby ambulance among others.
The Senate President in company of other dignitaries flanked by the Emir of Bade Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman later inaugurated the Skills Acquisition Centre at Umar Suleiman College of Education Gashua, inspected ongoing road project at the Federal University Gashua and finally flag off his Free Medical Outreach as well as Mass Animal Vaccination exercise for the year 2021 at the General Hospital Gashua.
