Senate President while commiserating with the victims of the fire disaster

The President of the Senate, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan has donated the sum of 10 million naira to victims of the recent Nguru Central Market fire disaster in Yobe state.
Senator Lawan announced the donation while commiserating with the Victims of the inferno that destroyed many shops and valuables worth millions of naira at Nguru the headquarters of Nguru Local Government Areas
Senator Ahmed Lawan also appealed to other well-meaning citizens and relevant government agencies to support the fire victims to cushion their hardship.
He also commended the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for the quick response through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
Senator Lawan who also flagged off distribution of relief materials donated by the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, tasked the committee to ensure that only affected traders benefit from the gesture.
Also, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk, represented by the Director Humanitarian Alhaji Grema Ali said President Muhammadu Buhari directed the ministry to provide immediate support to the affected persons.
She pointed out that the Ministry has directed NEMA to work with the Yobe State Government and other relevant agencies to conduct an assessment of the situation for immediate response.
The items distributed include 1,500 (10kg) of Rice, 1,500 (10kg) bags of beans, 1,500 bags of Maize, 150 Kgs (20 litres) of Vegetable oil, 125 cartons of tin tomato.
Others are 250 cartons of seasoning, 75 bags of salt, 2,400 bundles of roofing sheets, 2,400 pieces of ceiling boards, 900 packets of nails and 300 bags of nails.
