SON ENJOINED COMPANIES TO OBTAIN MANCAP CERTIFICATION.

The Standard Organization of Nigeria SON has presented the mandatory conformity assessment program MANCAP to six companies in Bauchi state

Presenting the certificate the Director General SON Mallam Salim Faruq said that all products manufactured locally in Nigeria must conform with the requirements of the Nigeria Industrial Standard NIS

Malam Salim Faruq who was represented by the Regional coordinator SON Northeast Alhaji Adamu Abba Galaje explained that essence of introducing MANCAP is to protect consumers from locally manufactured substandard and unsafe products

“The implementation of the MANCAP takes effect from January 1,2016 to ensure existing manufacturing companies adjust to the requirements for compliance while intending manufacturers are expected to comply before products are put on the Mar for sale to consumers.

Malam Salim Faruq said MANCAP is covering all products manufactured in Nigeria to promote fare competition and add value for goods and services

The Director General uses the medium to commend the companies who secure MANCAP Certification and urged others to emulate.

In a remarks the Bauchi state coordinator SON Engr Hauwa Husain enjoined certified companies to display their MANCAP mark in their products and warned the companies to ensure production of quality products at all times as the SON inspectors would continue monitoring

“Standardized your products and services by aligning it with the Nigeria Industrial Standard which is a precise and authoritative document established by consensus and approved by the Nigeria standard council prescribing necessary criteria to ensue that materials produce or procedure in your output is fit for the purpose intended once certified by SON,your products and services can be trade not only in Nigeria but also globally.

She appealed to consumers to always report substandards products to the organization for necessary action

Speaking the permanent secretary Bauchi state ministry of commerce and industry Halimatu Thomas who was represented by a Director in the ministry Alhaji Kawuje jibrin assured small business holders of government support for them to excel

Some of the representative of the certified companies assured that they would continue to produce quality products for the safety of consumers.
