Tangale Community Calls for Withdrawal of Security Outfits in Billiri LG.

Elders of Tangale Community Development Association in Gombe State have Advocated for withdrawal of a volunteer security outfit ” Yan Tauri” in Billiri local government area of the State.
They have also called for the immediate redeployment of Divisional Police Officer DPO in the area over what they described as unprofessional conduct of activities of the police in the local government.
The Association made its position known at a press conference held in Bauchi State NUJ Secretariat.
Addressing journalists on behlf the National President of the Association Mr. Sankace Agur, a leader of the group Dr. Daniel Maddo blamed the Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and Mai Tangale Malam Danladi Sunusi Maiyamba for taking actions against the interest of the local Communities.
He alleged that the Mai Tangale has invited Members of Kano state Business Community to reconstruct and takeover the popular Billiri Kantoma market which was bunt during a mayhem in February nineteen this year as a result of the controversial appointment of the new Mai Tangale by the state Governor.
“The forum noted with dismay the religious bias exhibited by the delegates of the Kano business community who came with relief materials and distributed them only to our Muslim brothers in a community where over 90 percent are Christians and members of both faiths were affected by the disturbances”.
“The forum also observed with dismay the compensation paid by the government in respect of properties lost to the tune of over N500 million to owners of stalls burnt during the mayhem”.
Also speaking a former Deputy Governor during Dankwambo administration Charles Iliya said as one of elders in the affected community, they will continue to seek for redress on any action against their sociocultural arrangements.
When contacted, the Director General Media for the Gombe State Government Ismail Misilli described the allegations as baseless.
” All I Will say is that the allegations are unfounded and baseless as the state government has not asked any group of people to takeover the issue of security in the area”.
