Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni requested the Federal Government’s intervention for the reconstruction of the 330 KVA towers, vandalized by the suspected Boko Haram insurgents in the State.
This is made known in a statement released by the office of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Baba Mallam Wali, and made available to Radio Nigeria.
According to the statement, the affected towers around Kasaisa Village between Damaturu and Buni-yadi have led Damaturu the capital city, and its environs into total darkness
The statement explains that the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has already awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the affected towers.
On the efforts to provide an alternative source of power, the statement indicates that Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed the State Rural Electrification Board, R.E.B., and Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC, to restore the 33KV line from Potiskum to Damaturu with immediate effect.
It’s therefore enjoined the General Public to kindly exercise patience as the Government is doing everything possible to address the situation and further urged them to continue to pray for peace and prosperity of the State and the country at large.
