Modern Traditional Medicine Practitioners of Nigeria has called on the Federal and State governments to provide members of the association with modern facilities for their services to conform with international best practices.
The President of the Association, Dr Ibrahim Dadanakowa who made the call during a meeting with members of the association in Bauchi said when provided the modern equipment it would improve processing and packaging of traditional medicine, thereby reduce risk associated with the products.
He explained that Nigeria has lots of potentials in herbal medicine, saying if properly harnessed it would go a long way in providing effective alternative medicine.
Dr Dadanakowa called on Bauchi state Government to establish a regulatory board for traditional medicine to ensure monitoring, evaluation and provide supportive supervision on the Practitioners’ activities.
In a remark, the National Adviser on Traditional Medicine, Dr Nuhu Waziri called for unity and cooperation among members in order to move the Association to greater heights.
