UBEC commences 5-day financial Management training for SUBEBs staff across the country.

Finance Staff of Universal Basic Education Boards SUBEBs across the country have been charged to update their financial management skills towards minimising financial infractions and ensure value for money.

The Executive Secretary Universal Basic Education Commission Dr Hamid Bobboyi gave the charge during the opening of a five day financial management training for SUBEB staff from six states of the north east held in Bauchi.

Dr Hamid Bobboyi represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary Technical UBEC Northern region Professor Bala Zakari said the training which focuses on efficient and effective financial management of the UBE Intervention fund, seeks to integrate key financials components such as financial accounting, management accounting, cost accounting, taxation, auditing and procurement frontiers for SUBEB staff.

“This gathering is very crucial because it provides a platform for the critical stakeholders in the UBE finance corridor to acquire the knowledge for understanding the importance and impact of Financial management in Universal Basic Education delivery, a major key for the successful implementation of the Universal Basic Education programme in Nigeria,” Dr Bobboyi notes.

He stressed the need for the participants to acquaint themselves with adequate knowledge of financial management which involves strategic planning, organising, directing and controlling of financial resources.

In a remark, the Zonal Director UBEC Northeast Alhaji Abdullahi Jarma who said the training was apt in view of the infractions and anomalies encountered in resource management, appreciated the commission for it effort in improving the skills and knowledge of various SUBEB staff across the country.

“Whichever materials that we have with us, let us keep it very close so that anytime we have a challenge we can make reference to it to avoid any problem,” Jarma emphasises.

In a goodwill message, the Executive Chairman SUBEB Bauchi Dr Surunbai Sheikh Dahiru thanked UBEC for choosing Bauchi to host the training and advised participants to fear God in their dealings and apply all laid down regulations in official duties.

The training currently holding across the six geo-political zones of the country has seven selected participants from each of the thirty six states and the FCT.
