VSF donate food items 8500 households Yobe state.

Victim Support Fund VSF has donated food items to over eight thousand five hundred households displaced by recent insurgency attacks across some communities in Yobe state.
Withing the last one year or so , there were pocket of attacks by insurgents displacing some communities across five local government areas. The local governments include Geidam, Tarmuwa, Damaturu, Gashua and Yunusari.
While presenting the food donation to the Yobe state government, the Director General of Victims Support Fund Professor Nana Tanko said over sixty thousand individuals would benefit from the intervention to help them meet their nutritional needs for at least one month.
Professor Nana Tanko explained that the chairman of the VSF Retired General TY Danjuma had last year approved distribution of soluble fertilizer and knapsacks to 700 farmer households but the farming activities were disrupted by insecurity hence the intervention.
In his address at the event, governor Mai Mala Buni represented by the commissioner for humanitarian affairs and disaster management Dr Garba Iliya expressed the commitment of his administration toward supporting and reintegrating victims of insurgency into their host communities in addition to creating enabling environment for security agencies to discharge their duties.
Governor Buni further promised to ensure judicious uterlisation of the the donation to cushion hardship faced by the displaced persons.
Each package of the Items given to a household consist of 15 kg of maize flour, 15 kg of millet grits, 10 kg of beans, 2 kg salt, vegetable oil, tomato, pepper and onion pastes among other.
