Wheat Farmers under the FG Anchor Borrowers Programme commenced harvest in Bauchi state.

Wheat farmers under the Federal Government Anchor Borrowers Programme of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN in Bauchi state have commenced harvest of their farm produce.
The programme saw the cultivation of five thousand one hundred and twenty hectres of land in nineteen local government areas under the state’s National Wheat Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria.
Speaking at a brief ceremony at the commencement of the harvest at Doka Village of Alkaleri local government area, the CBN representative Alhaji Aminu Haruna who appreciated the Federal Government for coming up with the programme noted that the initiative has encouraged farmers to key into wheat production to achieve commodity value chain.
Alhaji Aminu Haruna expressed optimism that with the level of commitment from the farmers and the support from the federal government the country would spearhead African countries in wheat production in the next two to three years.
In a remark, the National Vice President of National Wheat Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad who commended the farmers for exhibiting high sense of commitment said with little support and training they would compete favourably with their counterparts across the globe.
Ahmad Muhammad who is also the Bauchin Bauchi advised farmers to exercise patience in wheat production practice and patronize extension agents to enable them excel.
Also speaking the state Coordinator National Wheat Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Sadiq explained that they have engaged farmers into wheat production in nineteen out of the twenty local government areas in the state and hoped that the effort would yield positive result.
Ibrahim Abubakar Sadiq enjoined the governors of the participating states into wheat farming programme to provide moral and financial support to attract more farmers for the socio economic development of the country.
In a vote of thanks, the Village Head of Doka Malam Ibrahim Ado appreciated the federal government for coming up with the programme stressing that it has positive impact on the economy and has provided job opportunities for the youth and reduced redundancy among them.
