World Bank Grants Financial Approval To Bauchi Gov’t For IMPACT Project

Bauchi State Government has secured financial approval from the World Bank to commence implementation process of Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Health Services IMPACT project, before the end of this month.

The State Project Coordinator, Dr Adamu Muhammad, made this known in an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria in his office in Bauchi.

The project will commence by mapping and selection of the Health Facilities, training of state and local governments supervisors, facility managers and Ward Development Committee Chairmen WDC.

It also seeks to strengthen quality delivery of routine and other immunizations as well as Maternal and Child Health services and is to be implemented in 323 health facilities across the state.

Dr Adamu Muhammad said Bauchi was the first state to have paid over forty million naira, as part of the requirements for accessing funds from the World Bank to pave way for smooth implementation.

He said Bauchi was the first state to inaugurate Steering Committee and Project Implementation Unit as well as having its Annual Operational Plan approved by the World Bank.

Dr Muhammad assured that the Project Implementation Unit, was committed to deliver quality health care services throughout the period.

The ten-year World Bank supported project, which is long overdue since November 2020, suffered over a year of delay before approval of the borrowing and other implementation plans.
