In an effort to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged in the state, Yobe state Government has supported two hundred Orphans with fifty thousand naira each.
Speaking at the official launching ceremony in Damaturu, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni said the gesture was to assist the orphans with a little start-up capital to be introduced to skill acquisition and self-reliance at a very early stage in life.
He called on the well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of the Children who lost their caregivers by uplifting their lives.
“It is our hope that this assistance will add value to your lives and future” Gov. Buni prayed.
Buni added that the beneficiaries whose age ranges between 9-14 years cut across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Coordinator of the programme and Special Adviser to Yobe Governor, on Religious Affairs Ustaz Babagana Malam Kyari, said this is the first time orphans in the state were supported in such a large number.
He said the gesture by the Governor would reduce the menace of street begging especially among orphans who have no breadwinners.
Malam Kyari called on guardians of the orphans to support them and ensure judicious use of the resources.
