7 day Measles Vaccination Exercise commences in Taraba state

Parent and caregivers in Taraba state have been requested to ensure that their children and wards are vaccinated during the ongoing measles vaccination exercise.

The Galadima Muri, Alhaji Tukur Abba Tukur made appeal at the flagged-off of the seven day Measle vaccination campaign in Jalingo for the year 2023,at New Barade primary health care,Magami ward Jalingo.

Alhaji Tukur Abba Tukur who served as the chairman of of the event explained that those eligible for the exercise were children from zero to fifty nine months.

Earlier, the state Executive Secretary Taraba state Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Tukura Nuhu Nyigwa represented by the Director health care in the Agency Dr Kennedy George who stressed the importance of the vaccination exercise in preventing avoidable deaths among children also appealed to the parents to support government at all levels for effective service delivery.

In there separate goodwill messages the representatives of WHO,UNICEF,AFENET, NPHDA, among others assured care givers in the state that the measles vaccine safe for use on children.

In his vote of thanks the Director Primary Healthcare Department Jalingo local government area, Shua’bu Adamu expressed satisfaction witg turn out of people during the flag- off and further appealed to parents to present their children at the designated vaccination centers to access the free measles vaccine.

He also lauded the efforts of traditional and religious leaders for their commitment towards the success immunization exercises.

The measles vaccination exercise is expected to end on 2nd December 2023, in the selected thirteen states including Taraba.
