Yobe Gov’t, Pledges More Commitments to Promote Farming Activities in State

In its continuous efforts to revitalise the Agricultural sector, the Yobe State Government has procured another batch of forty (40) Tractors for onward distribution to farmers across the state.

The State Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, made this known in Damaturu, the state capital.

Briefing journalists shortly after inspecting the newly purchased items, the Commissioner of the Ministry for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, said the Yobe State Government Agricultural Empowerment Programme aimed at boosting food security and economic development in the state.

He explained that the 40 Tractors are in addition to the 100 units of Tractors purchased during the last cropping season

“As you may be aware, 100 units of Tractors were procured during the last cropping season. His Excellency has gone further to procure another unit of 40 MF375 Tractors for the people of Yobe State”, Goniri stated.

On the nature of distribution, the Commissioner says the tractors will be distributed according to the Zones.

“All the tractors total 140, will be taken to the zonal offices of Potiskum, Nguru, Gashu’a and Damaturu and will be deployed for hiring to farmers across Yobe state at subsidized rate”,

Mustapha Goniri expressed appreciation for Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to prioritizing the Agricultural sector.

He reassured the readiness of the ministry towards actualizing Buni’s efforts of revitalizing the sector by supplying the necessary farm implements for enhanced production across Yobe.

Goniri further advised youths to make good use of the opportunity to engage in farming activities, instead of unnecessary attitudes that will lead them to unwanted situations.
