The President of the Edo Community in Kano, Elder Dr. Patric Agba, has strongly condemned the brutal killings of 16 travelers in Uromi, Edo State.
The victims, who were predominantly hunters from northern Nigeria, were ambushed by a vigilante group and armed youths on March 27, 2025.
Dr. Agba described the incident as “condemnable and unfortunate,” and expressed solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Edo State Governor in condemning the barbaric act.
He hoped that the culprits would be brought to justice as soon as possible.
The Edo Community in Kano also sympathized with the Kano State Government, the families of the victims, and the general populace.
Dr. Agba emphasized that Edo people are peace-loving and do not align themselves with those who participate in such sad incidents.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many condemning the jungle justice that led to the brutal killings.
The police have arrested 14 suspects in connection with the incident, and an investigation is ongoing.²
The Kano State Government has also condemned the killings, calling for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into the incident.
The government urged President Tinubu and the Edo State Governor to denounce the act unequivocally and ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly prosecuted.
As the investigation continues, the Edo Community in Kano has reiterated its commitment to peace and justice. Dr. Agba called on the authorities to ensure that justice is served and that such incidents are prevented in the future.
Sarki Edo, Fred Akhigbe in Kano, said what had happened was not known to their People’s, they are peace loving Citizens who leaves with everybody regardless of his background in harmony.
“We sees what had happened as an a front to the Unity of the Country and we don’t accept is illegal and stand condemnable, we call on the Government to ensure that justice is been carried accordingly”.
The Sarki Edo and the Edo Community President commended President Tinubu and the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo for their swift reaction on the matter and the true stance against it, assuring that the Leaders positions would go along way in ensuring peace and harmony among Nigerians.
