Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has approved the release of ₦872,361,631 as the state’s counterpart contribution to the Primary Healthcare (PHC) basket fund.
The Deputy Governor, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, made this known during a meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare and an award presentation ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Bauchi.
A statement by the Special Assistant, Media, Deputy Governor’s Office, Muslim Lawal explains that already ₦261,708,491 has been disbursed to the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board.
The deputy governor said the development reflects the unwavering commitment of the present administration to strengthening healthcare infrastructure.
He said the administration was supporting frontline health workers, and improving access to quality healthcare services across the state, irrespective of residents’ locations or socio-economic status.
The meeting reviewed progress on the implementation of action points from the Annual Primary Health Care Retreat and provided updates on the First Quarter of the 2025 PHC Annual Operational Plan as well as preparations for the April 2025 National Immunisation Polio Days (NIPDs).
The Deputy Governor commended health workers, local government health teams, facility managers, and community volunteers for their dedication and contribution to the steady improvement of healthcare delivery in the state.
He described the awards presented at the event as a token of appreciation for their efforts.
He reaffirmed that the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed remains resolute in ensuring the timely provision of necessary funds aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage in the state.
While appreciating development partners for their technical and financial support, the Deputy Governor called for renewed commitment towards building a healthier Bauchi State.
In a remark, the Co-Chair of the State Task Force on Primary Health Care and Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, expressed satisfaction with the milestones recorded in the implementation of health programmes across the state.
