Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable healthcare services to the people of Yobe State.
This pledge was made during a one-day engagement meeting with key stakeholders, including Emirs, Religious leaders, Civil society organisations, and Service users, aimed at strengthening the primary health care system in the state.
Governor Buni emphasised the importance of traditional rulers’ support in sensitising and creating awareness about primary healthcare services.
Buni further commended the Federal Government and Yobe development partners for supporting primary healthcare services in the state.
He directed the 17 Local Government Council Chairmen to collaborate with traditional rulers to combat drug abuse and instructed that the full force of the law be applied against those involved in trafficking and consuming prohibited drugs and substances.
In remarks, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana, noted that Yobe State ranks among the top-performing states in the country regarding routine immunization supportive supervision assessment.
He added that the development is part of Governor Buni’s broader efforts to prioritise healthcare, education, and economic development in Yobe State.
