The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, SSG Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has called for a mandatory framework to ensure the training and retraining of teachers in both primary and secondary schools in the country.

He made the call while receiving the Chairperson of Gombe State Teachers Service Commission, TSC Na’omi Philip Maiguwa, and her team in his office.

Professor Njodi, a former educationist, expressed concern over the declining standard of education in the country, blaming both government neglect and societal attitudes.

He praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya for establishing the Teachers Training Institute in Kwami to address the issue in Gombe State.

He also hailed the recent creation of 13 Local Council Development Areas by Governor Yahaya, describing it as a bold move to improve grassroots education and development.

In her remarks, TSC Chairperson Na’omi Maiguwa reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to build a capable teaching workforce in the state.

She praised the governor for recruiting 1,000 new teachers and appealed for more recruitment to fill existing gaps caused by teacher retirements and resignations.
