The Nureini Jimoh Legal Support Foundation has empowered widows of Muslim societies in Kano, providing financial support aimed at alleviating hardship and promoting self-reliance among vulnerable groups.
The empowerment program, which took place at the Jama’atu Islammiya Society of Nigeria, Dakata, Kano, attracted community leaders, religious scholars, and traditional rulers who commended the initiative as a noble gesture that aligns with Islamic teachings of compassion and support for the needy.
Speaking at the event, the Oba Yoruba of Kano, Ambassador Dr. Alhaji Muritala Alimi Otisheshe, described the initiative as a “great gesture that attracts Allah’s reward and blessings.”
He urged wealthy individuals in society to emulate the culture of supporting widows, orphans, and the less privileged, stressing that such acts ease human suffering and strengthen communal bonds.
The Chief Imam of Jama’atu Islammiya Mosque, Sheikh Ali Algambari, also delivered a goodwill message, calling on Muslims to consistently extend kindness to the needy, as enshrined in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Nurudeen Bidemi, explained that the initiative was primarily designed to assist widows in catering for their children and households.
In his address, the convener of the program, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Nureini Jimoh, revealed that fifteen widows had been selected in the first phase of the exercise, each receiving financial support of ₦150,000.
“I believe this gesture will go a long way in helping you take care of your families. My hope is that you will make maximum and judicious use of this support,” Jimoh stated.
He further disclosed that the second phase of the empowerment initiative would be held at the palace of Oba Muritala Alimi Otisheshe, where another set of vulnerable individuals would benefit.
One of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Abdullateef Morufat, who spoke on behalf of the widows, expressed profound gratitude to the foundation for the support.
She assured that the beneficiaries would utilize the funds wisely to improve their families’ welfare.
The program was widely praised as a timely intervention to cushion the economic challenges faced by widows and the less privileged in Kano.
