Governor Bala Mohammed Bauchi State has inaugurated a special committee for the sensitization on peaceful co-existence in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas of the state.

The formation of the committee is part of ongoing efforts by the Bauchi State Government to consolidate peace and prevent a resurgence of violence in the two local government areas.

Speaking at the event, Governor Bala Mohammed emphasized the need to sustain the peace that has been consolidated in the two local government areas over the past three decades but expressed worry over the recent farmer-herder clashes that led to the loss of lives and property.

Bala Mohammed warned that his administration would not allow such gains in peaceful coexistence to be eroded by the activities of miscreants and troublemakers.

He further directed them to make use of religious institutions across the areas in carrying out their assignment effectively, describing them as key channels of communication and enlightenment for the grassroots.

He also urged the committee to promptly report any situation that may escalate beyond their control for immediate government intervention.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Co-Chairmen Faizu Ado Musa and Reverend Father Benson Bature pledged to work closely with relevant stakeholders including traditional rulers, religious leaders, and security agencies, in order to deliver on the task given to them.
