NDLEA calls for collaborative action against drug abuse in Gombe.

Gombe State residents have been advised to join the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the war against drug abuse to create a drug-free and fully productive society.

The advice was given by Mrs. Orpha Nuhu Gabriel, Public Relations Officer of the Gombe State Command of the NDLEA, In an interview with radio Nigeria Jewel FM in gombe

Mrs. Gabriel emphasized that the war against drug abuse is a collective responsibility, calling on traditional and community leaders to play their part.

She also urged religious leaders to include anti-drug abuse messages in their sermons.

According to Mrs. Gabriel, the Gombe State Command of the NDLEA achieved significant milestones in 2024, arresting 266 suspects (258 males and 8 females) with over 3,000g of hard drugs, including cannabis sativa, psychotropic substances, and cocaine.

Additionally, 85 suspects were convicted (83 males and 2 females), while 102 await trial, and investigations are ongoing.

The command is also conducting counseling exercises at an ultra-modern center, encouraging people to utilize the facility for rehabilitating children in need.
