OXFAM Nigeria has affirmed that the Community Development Planning CDP is the most viable document for promoting participatory and inclusive service delivery at the grassroots, calling on critical stakeholders to adopt and implement it for the rapid development of the country.
Project Coordinator of OXFAM Nigeria, Samuel Lashon, made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria Fombina News during a budget preparation and CDP inclusion consultative training for Guyuk Local Government staff, held in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The OXFAM Nigeria Project Coordinator, Samuel Lashon, said the importance of the Community Development Planning CDP document cannot be overemphasized, hence the need to train local government staff to develop a participatory and inclusive budget that reflects the priority needs of the people for grassroots and national development.
Lashon explained that the CDP is an initiative that requires strong political will to be adopted and implemented for improved service delivery at the grassroots and the nation at large.
Public financial consultants and facilitators at the training, Olayemi Olufemi and Blessing Yakubu, said the CDP is a global document backed by the Adamawa State Government and emphasized the need to close the gender gap for inclusive service delivery.
Participants at the training described the document as an eye-opener and appreciated OXFAM Nigeria and its partners for their intervention.
The Workshop, aimed at supporting improved social cohesion through Community Development Planning, was organized by GIZ, OXFAM, CRUDAN, and partners, with funding from the German Government and the European Union, in collaboration with the Nigerian Government.
The Community Development Plan CDP document has so far been implemented in Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Gombi, Numan, Demsa, Guyuk, and Hong Local Government Areas of Adamawa State, playing a significant role in service delivery to communities.
