Yobe State Government has issued a public advisory cautioning residents against engaging with Unknown Firms or Individuals, due to concerns over public safety and possible cyber-enabled fraud.

The advisory was released by the Office of the Yobe State Focal Person on Cyber and Information Technology, Abdulmumini Mallam Kolo, following multiple complaints, intelligence reports, and ongoing legal matters involving a company and its principal officers.

According to the statement , the concerns include alleged misrepresentation of professional titles, unlawful labour recruitment practices, criminal records, ongoing legal cases, and potential conflicts of interest.

The government noted that the warning became necessary in view of the increasing cases of cyber fraud, online job scams, and digital deception, particularly those linked to employment and overseas job placements.

Members of the public were advised to exercise due diligence by verifying claims, job offers, and international recruitment opportunities with relevant government authorities before making payments or sharing personal information.

The Yobe State Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens from cybercrime, fraud, and digital exploitation, while encouraging the public to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
