In commemoration of this year’s International Day of Education, with the theme “Learning for Lasting Peace”, parents in Bauchi State have been encouraged to support initiatives aimed at advancing girls’ education to foster the state’s development.

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, made the appeal during an event organised by the Nabalango Foundation in Ningi Local Government Area.

Represented by the Deputy Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Jamilu Umaru Dahiru, the Governor emphasised the importance of ongoing programmes such as the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), designed to enhance educational opportunities for adolescent girls across the state.

Governor Bala Mohammed highlighted his administration’s commitment to revitalising the education sector, noting that a significant portion of the 2025 state budget has been allocated to education.

He assured residents that plans are underway to renovate all primary and secondary schools to provide a conducive learning environment.

“We are working tirelessly to upgrade education in Bauchi State, and I urge all parents to support our agenda by ensuring that their children, especially girls, are enrolled in school,” the Governor said.

In a remark, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, who lauded the efforts to improve education during the event, revealed that the programme had provided learning materials and transportation allowances to over 1,000 students from various schools in Ningi LGA.

“This initiative celebrates the International Day of Education and aims to encourage school children to remain committed to their academic journey,” Sulaiman said.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed and the Ningi Emirate for their support of education in the area.

The Executive Chairman of Ningi Local Government, Alhaji Nasiru Zakarai, commended the Speaker’s efforts and pledged to ensure the proper use of the distributed resources.
