The Kano State Government has announced a 60-day extension for the ongoing recertification of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-Os), moving the deadline from January 31, 2025, to April 1, 2025.

The recertification exercise, which commenced on November 25, 2024, aims to establish an efficient and transparent land management system in the state.

The Kano State Geographic Information System (KANGIS) office is conducting the recertification process.

In a media statement signed by Muhammad Musbahu Yahuza, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, said the public has responded overwhelmingly to the recertification process.

However, he acknowledged concerns regarding the initial timeframe and assured property owners that the extension would provide ample opportunity to complete the process.

The government urged all land and property owners who are yet to recertify their ownership documents to take advantage of the extension, warning that failure to do so could result in the forfeiture of property rights under existing regulations.
