Over 1,000 residents of Nangere–Potiskum Constituency in Yobe State are set to benefit from health insurance coverage and free medical services under a programme organised by the Dr. Danchuwa Charity Foundation.

The initiative includes the free enrolment of 1,000 beneficiaries into a permanent health insurance scheme, as well as 100 free hernia surgeries (Herniorrhaphy), with beneficiaries drawn from vulnerable groups, including persons with special needs, orphans, widows, the elderly, and community and religious leaders.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Idriss Adamu Danchuwa said that despite receiving opportunities to work abroad after qualifying as a medical doctor, he chose to return home to serve his people and contribute to improving healthcare services in the area.

Chairman of the Dr. Danchuwa Charity Foundation, Sani Makama, said the foundation has previously conducted medical testing and provided free treatment for liver-related ailments for over 1,000 people, in addition to supporting pregnant women in Potiskum and Nangere Local Government Areas.

Also speaking, Alhaji Bala Musa Lawan, who represented the APC Zone B Zonal Deputy Chairman, commended Dr. Danchuwa for the initiative and urged residents to continue supporting leaders committed to community development.

The event featured the presentation of health insurance enrolment forms to beneficiaries and was attended by representatives of the Emirate Council, community and religious leaders, as well as hundreds of residents who expressed appreciation for the humanitarian gesture.
