Governor Inuwa Yahaya Receives Emir of Gombe on Traditional Sallah Homage

Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has received the Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III on a traditional Sallah homage to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration at the Government House.

The visit, an age-long tradition in the state, provides an opportunity for the revered monarch to felicitate with the Governor and the people of Gombe State on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, while strengthening the bond between the traditional institution and government.

In his remarks, the Emir expressed deep appreciation for the purposeful leadership demonstrated by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, noting that the state has witnessed unprecedented development across various sectors under his administration.

He recalled the Governor’s initial pledges at the start of his tenure, stating that not only have they been fulfilled, but expectations have been exceeded.

The monarch also commended the Governor for promoting peace, unity, and inclusive governance, particularly highlighting the role of traditional institutions in decision-making processes.

He further outlined achievements across key sectors including health, infrastructure, education, energy, industry, and economic development, as well as efforts to extend development to underserved communities.

The Emir praised the transformation of Gombe into a modern and visually appealing city, now emerging as a hub for tourism. He referenced landmark projects such as the upgraded Government House, the airport, the Three-Arms Zone, and the Shehu Abubakar District, among others.

In response, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to the monarch for his continued support, prayers, and guidance.

He described the strong relationship between his administration and the Gombe Emirate Council as a critical pillar behind the successes recorded so far.

Reflecting on the past seven years, the Governor stated that his administration has laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth, with notable progress in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and economic reforms.

He reaffirmed his commitment to leaving lasting legacies that will benefit future generations.

On security, the Governor reiterated that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority.

He also called on residents to sustain the spirit of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence demonstrated during the Ramadan period.

The event featured the symbolic presentation of the traditional Sallah gift (Goron Sallah) to the Emir by the Governor, followed by a colourful durbar procession involving the Emir and traditional title holders.
