The management of Federal University Gashua has alerted the public to the existence of a fake Facebook account impersonating the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Adamu Saleh, the university clarified that the account is not owned, managed, or authorised by the Vice-Chancellor.
The statement warned that any messages, friend requests, or solicitations from the fraudulent account should be disregarded, describing them as a scam.
Members of the public, colleagues, and associates have been advised not to engage with the impersonator or share any personal or financial information.
The university added that the matter has been noted and appropriate steps are being taken to address the situation.
