A woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, has delivered quintuplets at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, with the Kano State Government taking full responsibility for their medical care.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Na’isa.

According to the statement, the mother gave birth to five babies three boys and two girls who are currently receiving specialised medical attention alongside their mother at the facility.

The husband, Salisu Nufi’u, a tricycle rider, revealed that this is his wife’s ninth delivery.

He explained that her previous delivery produced twins, making this the first time she has given birth to quintuplets.

He expressed gratitude to the state government for the timely intervention.

“This support has come at a very critical moment for my family, and we are deeply grateful to the government,”

The government noted that the intervention is part of broader efforts to strengthen the healthcare system in Kano, particularly in improving maternal and child health services.

It reaffirmed its commitment to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates while ensuring access to quality healthcare, especially for vulnerable populations.

“We will continue to support the general public, particularly the less privileged, to ensure they have access to quality healthcare services,”
