Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) Bauchi is graduating a total of eleven thousand, eight hundred and thirteen students in its 8th, 9th and 10th combined convocation ceremony scheduled to hold on Saturday 28 March, 2026.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Fatima Tahir who gave the figure during a news briefing at the conference hall of the institution’s main campus Gaɗau said 8,387, making 71 percent were males while 3,426 which is 29 are female students.
Professor Tahir noted that out of the total number 216 earned First Class honours, 3,438 have Second Class Upper, while 5,563 garnered Second Class Lower, and 2,353 graduated with pass.
She informed that the figure comprised of 10,702 regular students and 1,111 were part-time students.
According to her, 5,240 graduands were of the 2023/2024 academic session, recording the highest number with 44.5 percent, while 4,064 graduands were of the 2022/2023 academic session with 34.5 percent, and 2,509 were graduands of 2024/2025 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor stated that at postgraduate level there twenty five Doctors of Philosophy, PhDs, one hundred and forty Academic Masters, two hundred and forty one Professional Masters and thirty two Postgraduate Diplomas.
Shortly after the news briefing, a Pre-convocation lecture titled “Education, Security and Sustainable Development: The Role of Universities in Northern Nigeria” was delivered by the former Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Ɓalewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Emeritus Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo.
