UniJos Alumni recommit to giving back to their Alma Mater.

The University of Jos Alumni Association UJAA, has Organised Alumni Lecture and Inauguration of the Newly Elected Executive of the Bauchi State Chapter.

Speaking during the swearing In Ceremony, the Global President of the Association Dr Gad Peter Shamaki underscore the importance of the Alumni Association in advancing the Development of the alma mater.

Dr Gad Shamaki said for over 40 years the Association has remain a symbol of unity, pride and service.

He said under his leadership the Association had continue to develop through establishment of new Chapters and strengthening the existing ones.

The UJAA Global President emphasised that the Association has given back to their alma mater through donation of learning materials to Faculties, Departments among other impactful initiatives.

” For the whole essence of alumni Association is to give back to that Alma Mater, around the world several Universities Oxford and co are been run by alumni Association in terms of seeking grants, in terms of helping with research and supporting other students to go back to school there. So I want urge us all that I’m excited this Chapter is working”

The Global President UJAA enjoined Alumni to facilitate access to grants and opportunities to enhanced the development of the University

In a remark the Chairman of the occasion Malam Dahiru Garba Muhammad who is also the Zonal Director FRCN Northeast advise the Alumni Association to strives hard in supporting the University to maintain it cosmopolitan nature.

“The University of Jos should maintain that tradition of bringing in all kind of people both the students and the academics, I could remember during our time we had students from South Africa and a host of other African nationals, even if we can not attract that kind of wide ranging from the academics at least the students population should be like what the Federal University is and I think the Alumni has great role to play especially those of us who are not from immediate catchment area by encouraging our candidates to seek for admission”

Malam Dahiru Garba Muhammad express delight for been one of the Alumni of the University of Jos.

In a Paper Presentation on Education, Leadership, Civic Responsibility and mobilizing University Alumni for Sustainable development, Mr Shu’aibu Usman Leman who is also the Chairman Elders Forum UJAA Bauchi State Chapter express dismay over the continue Militarization of Children in the Northeast .

Shu’aibu Usman Leman charge the University of Jos Alumni to worked with other key stakeholders in mounting pressure for the continue Oil exploration in Kolmani Oil Field, Construction of Bagel Zungur Dam and reduction of out of school children in Bauchi State.

“This gathering most be more than ceremonial it should Mark a turning point where reflection give way to resolve Ann intentions match by action”

He appealed to newly executive to focus on three foundational pillers that includes Alumni Mentorship, Community Impact Project and integrity pledge.

” My Alumni who are active in Journalism and Media should bear a profound responsibilities, the power to inform, to challenge and shape public opinions, let your reporting exposed injustice and inspired constructive dialogue, let your voices strengthen Democracy, encourage accountability and support the communities progress ”

Speaking the Emir of Jama’are Dr Nuhu Ahmad Wabi assured that the Jama’are Emirate would continue to support the Alumni Association in all it’s initiatives.

Dr Nuhu Ahmad Wabi who was represented by the Dr Chiroma Muhammad Malle, charge the Newly Elected Executive to remain steadfast in coming up with laudable initiatives that would transform the Association.

Speaking the Newly Elected Chairman University of Jos Alumni Association Bauchi State Chapter Stephen Sumi request the support and cooperation of all members to excell.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on all of us to join hand and harness the spirit of upliftment, commitment, sacrifice and support our alma mater in Bauchi state in other to empower one another for the better future of the State”

Stephen Sumi assured that the new executive would continue to redouble effort to justify the confidence repose on them.

The Newly Elected Executive of the University of Jos Alumni Association Bauchi Chapter are Mr Stephen Sumi Chairman, Nazeef Abba Pali Vice Chairman, Ayuba Kaluri Secretary.

Others are Dr Rabi’u Ibrahim Assistant Secretary, Comrade Saratu Nathaniel Treasurer, Aliya Danazumi Musa Financial Secretary, Mark Friday PRO and Bulus Musa Internal Auditor.
