NPC Bauchi Disowns Report on 2026 Population, Religious Demographics

The National Population Commission (NPC), Bauchi State Office, has distanced itself from a recent publication by Zamani TV on Facebook titled _”Rahoton Kididdigar Yawan Jama’a da Tsarin Addini a Jihar Bauchi 2026″_.

In a disclaimer issued Tuesday and signed by the Head of Public Affairs Department, Yahaya Makama, on behalf of the Hon. Federal Commissioner, the Commission described the statistics in the publication as “unverified” and said it had no direct or indirect connection to the report.

“The Management of Zamani TV, the author, and the general public should take note that NPC Bauchi State has no direct or indirect connection with the unverified statistical data in that publication, which contained round figures for every LGA,” the statement read.

The Commission stressed that it has never included religion and ethnicity in any of its censuses or surveys throughout history. It added that the report “does not represent the official position of the National Population Commission, Bauchi State Office” and that the Commission would not be held responsible for any harm the publication may cause to individuals, groups, or peaceful coexistence in the state.

Reaffirming its mandate, the NPC said it “remains committed to providing demographic data for national planning without bias toward any person or group of persons in the country.”

The public was therefore advised to “rely on officially published census data and authorized demographic statistics for planning and decision-making.”

The disclaimer comes after Zamani TV’s Facebook post claimed NPC and the National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) — conducted every five years by NPC and partners — as one of its sources.
