Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has called on Nigerians to offer prayers for the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other leaders to ensure lasting peace and stability.

The governor made the call during a meeting with Chief Imams of Juma’at mosques across the state, held in Damaturu.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Babagana Mallam Kyari, said the engagement marked the first phase of consultations with religious leaders, including both Muslim and Christian clerics.

He disclosed that over 800 Chief Imams from various Juma’at mosques attended the meeting.

Kyari highlighted the governor’s continued support for religious leaders in the state, noting that Chief Imams across the 17 Local Government Areas recently received financial assistance of two hundred thousand naira each.

He added that during the recent Ramadan period, Tsangaya leaders and Juma’at mosque Imams across the 14 emirate councils were also supported with one hundred thousand naira each.

The adviser further revealed that the state government has sustained its tradition of sponsoring Islamic scholars to the Holy Ka’aba to pray for peace and unity in Yobe State and Nigeria as a whole.

He noted that the administration also provides Sallah rams to Chief Imams in the state capital as part of its support during festive periods.
