The newly confirmed Medical Director of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Maiduguri Dr Umar Baba Musami has held his first official meeting with members of staff, assuring them of his unwavering commitment to their welfare and professional development.
The meeting which took place at the Hospital’s auditorium brought together management and staff across various departments in a show of unity and renewed purpose.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Musami expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation he received during his eleven-months tenure as Acting Medical Director.
He noted that the experience provided him with valuable insight into the needs challenges of the institution, which he said would guide his leadership as the substantive head of the hospital.
Dr Musami also appreciated President Bola Tinubu,VP Kashim Shettima, Gov. Zulum, and all stakeholders in the health sector for finding him worthy of this assignment.
The MD emphasis that the staff welfare would remain a top priority under his administration and pledge to create an enabling work environment, improve conditions of service and ensure that staff concerns are addressed promptly and transparently.
He also highlighted the importance of continuous training and capacity building to enhance service delivery.
Dr Masami further reaffirm his commitment to maintain high standards in mental healthcare services, stressing that the hospital must remain a centre of excellence in the region and beyond.
He further called on staff to demonstrate professionalism, dedication and teamwork in order to meet the expectations of patients and stakeholders.
Earlier in a welcome address the Director Administration Mallam Saleh Mohammed Sa’id, congratulated the new Medical Director, wished him Allah’s guidance and urged all staff to join hands with him for the betterment of the hospital.
In their separate goodwill messages, representatives of staff, HOD’s, MDCAN, NARD, JOHESU, NANMN, and AHAP all welcomed his confirmation and expressed confidence in his leadership, describing him as experienced and approachable, and pledged their continued support and cooperation to move the hospital forward.
