The All Progressives Congress in Yobe State has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement was part of resolutions reached at a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held on April 23, 2026, in Damaturu.
While briefing Journalists on the outcome of the party resolution, the President of the ninth senates, Senator Ahmed Lawan said the Party Leaders decision is based on what they describe as the administration’s positive performance, citing ongoing reforms and interventions by the Federal Government.
The party also adopted consensus as its mode of selecting candidates for the governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections, choosing it over direct primaries as provided in the Electoral Act.
According to stakeholders, the consensus approach has historically strengthened unity within the party in the state, ensuring that all members support candidates who emerge from the process.
They added that APC members in Yobe have maintained a strong culture of cooperation, which has contributed to electoral success, including one of the highest percentage vote performances in previous presidential elections.
The party expressed confidence in improving on past results, with a target of delivering 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027.
Stakeholders also assured that all party candidates at various levels will secure higher votes than recorded in the 2023 general elections.
