The Chief Imam of Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque in Nasarawa Jahun, Mallam Muhammad Yusuf Adam, has called on delegates and officials involved in political party primaries in Nigeria to fear Allah SWT while selecting candidates for elective positions.
The Islamic cleric made the appeal during his Friday sermon, where he stressed the importance of choosing credible and trustworthy leaders who are committed to religion, public welfare and national development.
Mallam Muhammad Yusuf noted that those conducting party primaries play a vital role in determining the quality of leadership the country will have, warning that the selection of unqualified and selfish candidates could expose the people to poor leadership lacking compassion and integrity.
He cautioned political stakeholders against allowing personal interests to influence their decisions, saying they would be accountable before Allah SWT for any injustice or wrongdoing committed by leaders they helped to install.
The cleric also urged Muslims and the general public to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards PVCs in preparation for future elections and encouraged them to vote for competent, patriotic and responsible candidates.
