Zulum Supervises APC Primaries in Mafa, Commends Party Unity.

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has supervised the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election process in Mafa Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The exercise, conducted by the party’s Primary Election Committee chaired by Chief Emma Eneukwu, led to the emergence of Hon. El-Lawan Yakub as the consensus candidate for Mafa State Constituency.

Hon. El-Lawan Yakub emerged after the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Baba Ali Modu, and another aspirant, Ahmadu Umara, voluntarily stepped down for him.

His candidature was later affirmed through a voice vote by party supporters and residents at the venue.

Declaring the outcome, Chairman of the Committee, Chief Emma Eneukwu, officially returned El-Lawan Yakub as the APC candidate for the constituency in the 2027 general elections.

Addressing party members shortly after the exercise, Governor Zulum commended the aspirants for demonstrating maturity and commitment to the unity of the party through the adoption of consensus.

The governor urged the candidate to carry all party members along in the discharge of his responsibilities if elected.

Professor Zulum also called on politicians and residents of Mafa to avoid tribal sentiments and work together for peace, unity and development in the area.

Speaking with journalists, the governor expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries across the state, describing the process as peaceful and a reflection of cohesion within the APC.

Governor Zulum further appreciated members of the primary election and appeal committees for ensuring a transparent process.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. El-Lawan Yakub pledged inclusive representation for the people of Mafa constituency and appreciated the aspirants who stepped down for him, as well as Governor Zulum and party officials for ensuring a peaceful exercise.

The governor was accompanied by the APC Deputy National Chairman, North, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, member representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza Federal Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Jaha, Acting Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Babagana Mustapha Malumbe, and other party officials.
