Customs Seeks Stronger Media Collaboration for Public Awareness

The Nigeria Customs Service has called for stronger collaboration with media organisations to enhance public awareness, border security communication, and national development across the country.

The call was made during the Zone B Media Parley held in Kano under the theme, “Building Synergy Between the Media and Customs for Enhanced Stakeholders Awareness and National Development.”

Speaking at the event, the Acting Customs Controller of the Kano/Katsina Area Command, Usman Adamu, described the engagement as a strategic platform for deepening cooperation between the Service and journalists.

He noted that the media plays a critical role in informing citizens about Customs activities and policies, while appreciating the support the Kano/Katsina Command has continued to receive from media practitioners.

In his welcome address, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano/Jigawa Command, CSP Tahir Balarabe, said the parley was organised to strengthen communication between the Nigeria Customs Service and the public through effective dissemination of information.

He added that the initiative would promote better public understanding of the operations and responsibilities of the Service.

Also speaking, the National Public Relations Officer and Chief Image Maker of the Nigeria Customs Service, DCC Abdullahi Maiwada, commended journalists for their continued support and commitment to the Service.

He described the media as an indispensable partner in national development through public enlightenment and awareness campaigns.

Maiwada stated that the Service had intensified efforts in Information Technology development and technology-driven operations aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery.

He stressed the importance of accurate and credible information dissemination, noting that Nigerians depend heavily on reliable information in their daily activities.

He further disclosed that the Nigeria Customs Service maintains working relationships with several media organisations across the country and disseminates information in different languages to ensure wider public reach.
