Hon Usman Adamu Sufi, has been declared as the gubernatorial candidate of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 general elections for Bauchi State.
He was elected on Sunday during a special delegate Congress held at the party Secretariat in Bauchi as supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), from the Bauchi State office.
Chairman of the PDP Gubernatorial and State Assembly Primary Elections for Bauchi State, Yusuf Doma, alongside other members of the Committee conducted the primary elections with delegates from all the 20 LGAs of the State participating.
The primary election was conducted through the voice votes and affirmation by the delegates who all affirmed Usman Adamu Sufi as the gubernatorial candidate of the party, having been the sole aspirant.
The Committee Chairman stated that, “I Doma, having certified that Usman Adamu Sufi, polled the highest voice votes affirmation and fulfilled the requirements of the Constitution of Nigeria (as amended), Constitution of the PDP and electoral guidelines, is hereby declared as the winner of the primary election and therefore the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP for 2027 General election in Bauchi State.”
The Committee Chairman also declared that all candidates for the State House of Assembly have been duly elected at their various State Constituency across the State in line with the electoral guidelines and Constitution of Nigeria and that of the PDP.
He commended card carrying members of the PDP in the State for their commitment and dedication to the party, assuring them that the PDP is very prepared to win every election it fields candidates for in the 2027 general elections.
In his acceptance speech, the PDP candidate, Usman Adamu Sufi, thanked the delegates for finding him worthy to be elected as the candidate of the party saying that it was a great honour done to him.
He also commended leadership of the PDP at all levels for believing and supporting his gubernatorial aspirantions over the years stressing that he has a strong political base that can win elections at any time.
Usman Adamu Sufi expressed confidence that the PDP will win all the elective positions it will field candidates for in the 2027 general elections considering the strength of the candidates elected during the primaries.
He assured that if eventually elected in 2027 as the next Governor of Bauchi State, his administration will focus on improving the education and health sectors of the State which are very critical to growth and development.
Earlier in his opening remarks, State Chairman of the PDP, assured that the PDP in Bauchi State is intact, formidable and ready to face the electorate in the 2027 general elections and will win considering its grassroots base.
He commended the delegates for showing love and support for the PDP at all levels urging them to embark on door to door campaigns across the State in order to win more support for the party and all of the candidates.
