NYSC Holds Orientation for Corps Employers in Kano, Urges Improved Welfare of Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has charged Co- Employees of corp members to ensure adequate welfare and accommodation of corps members posted to their organizations during their service.

The Director General of the NYSC Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, disclosed this during an orientation programme for employers of corps members in Kano State.

He said the aim of the workshop is to sensitise them on their responsibilities towards corps members before deployment to their places of primary assignment.

Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Oluseye said the orientation programme was being held simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to strengthen the implementation of the NYSC scheme.

Represented by Deputy Director, Mohammad Adamu Jiya, said the workshop was designed to acquaint employers with their obligations, including the provision of suitable accommodation and payment of local allowances where applicable, to enable corps members to effectively discharge their assigned responsibilities.

He urged employers to continue to prioritise the welfare of corps members, stressing that their well-being remained critical to the success of the scheme and the achievement of its objectives.

In her remarks, the NYSC Kano State Coordinator, Hajiya Halima Abdulkareem said the orientation workshop would go a long way in enhancing collaboration between the scheme and employers, thereby ensuring the continued success of the NYSC programme in the state.

She appealed to co-employers support the corps members to achieving the desired goals.

The workshop was attended by co- employers and other key players of the scheme.
