The Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy, Alkaleri BOGAA has urged the people of the state to avail themselves the opportunity provided by the institute towards having the requisite skills and certificate to work in the Oil and Gas Industry worldwide.
The Rector of the Academy Dr Ahmad Sulaiman Yaro made the call during a Radio Nigeria Globe FM Bauchi Hausa live phone-in programme Iya Ruwa on the courses and opportunities offered by the institute.
Dr Ahmad Yaro said the academy currently offers 8 courses under its Skills Acquisition component, 8 courses under Diploma in Oil and Gas component as well as four Courses under its Core Oil and Gas component.
He said the institute has signed a memorandum of understanding with an American online institute PetroEd, a provider of oilfield training, certifications and education solutions and certification to train fifty skilled persons in the industry on courses like RigPass with Basic Principles of Petroleum among others.
“This is a Core course in the Oil and Gas sector and we’re partnering PetroEd, a US-based Institute. The Governor has already paid the engagement fees for them to come and train 50 people and we are currently advertising three Courses in that regard. I want to guarantee that the professional certification to be given after the training is internationally recognised and currently we are waiting for prospective applicants”, Dr Yaro explains.
The Rector BOGAA said the over five hundred graduands admitted by the academy last year to study Automotive Mechatronics, Masonry, Capentry, Electrical, Computer Hardware maintenance and GSM repairs would soon receive their professional certification from various professional body like the Automotive Council of Nigeria, National Institute of Builders among others.
Dr Yaro further disclosed that another 260 are currently running various programmes at middle level to include automotive mechatronics, building construction, computer hardware and software engineering, solar technology, telecommunications among others with the approval of NBTE.
According to him, four courses under Core Oil and Gas to include RigPass, Minimum Industry Safety, Certificate and Advanced Certificate in Health, Safety and Environment have been approved and applicants can apply at its website www.bogaa.edu.ng.
While calling on people in the state to enroll into various programmes being offered, the Rector of the Oil and Gas academy noted that a befitting permanent site with all the required facilities is currently under construction at Alkaleri.
Callers to the programme Danladi Secretary, Abdullahi Washman Gombe, Abubakar Bayan Airport, Abdulhadi Nassarawa, Ibrahim Danfulani, Abubakar Danbaiwa Nasaru commended the present administration in the state for establishing the academy and called stakeholders from Bauchi and Gombe states to take up the matter with the Federal government to resume exploration activities at Kolmani oil field.
