NEDC Provides Emergency Aid To Seven Communities in Toro Federal Constituency

The North East development Commission NEDC has presented emergency relief materials to victims of banditry, kidnapping among others in seven communities of Toro federal constituency of Bauchi state.

The materials which include 100 bags of 25kg rice, over 960 cartoon of spaghetti, over 240 cartoon of cooking oil, 1000 mats, 1000 blankets were presented to the victims of Tulu, Mana, Kogin – Sallah, Kadade, Shau, Magama and Kafin Dulubi.

Presenting the materials to the member representing Toro at the House of Representatives Ismael Dabo, the NEDC Deputy Director Resettlements and Early Recovery Muhammad Sani Umar urged him to ensure judicious distribution to the victims.

“…. the fundamental task of the commission is, among other things, is to receive and manage funds allocated from either the Federal Government or International Donours for the resettlement, rehabilitation and reintegration victims of the insurgency, to reconstruct damaged roads, the houses and business premises of the victims …” Muhammad Sani Umar explained.

Muhammad Sani Umar said the development was a follow up to the request from the member during plenary at the House of Representatives and the assessment of the Commission on the affected communities recently.

“… a delegation was send from the commission to assess the level of damage and destruction in all the communities with a view to ascertain the area of the intervention and quick response….” The Deputy Director said.

He used the forum to encourage them to engage in community development initiatives and other social activities for the development of the constituency.

“…. people’s engagement into community development initiatives will surely complement the effort of the government in ensuring provisions of portable drinking water, roads, sanitation and hygiene among others…. Muhammad Sani Umar noted.

Receiving the materials the member, Ismael Dabo who commended the commission for the prompt response to the request pledged to ensure fair representation to the people of the constituency.

Ismael Dabo represented by Hussaini Abdulhadi enjoined people of the area to support all government policies and programmes that have direct impact on lives of the common man and destitute.

“… we assured you of fair representation at all times and our doors are open and will continue to be opened for advice and concrete criticism for the development of our dear state and the country as a whole…” Ismael Dabo said.

The event which featured symbolic presentation of the materials has in attendance top management of the Commission, politicians and members of the public.
