The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation has been requested to build the capacity of War Against Indiscipline, WAI, Brigade with a view to effectively execute the mandate of establishing the organisation.
The Commander, Bauchi State Command of WAI Brigade, Sani Adamu Babankawu made the request during the Pulling out Parade and Retirement Ceremony of the Director, National Orientation Agency, Bauchi State, held at the Federal Sectariate Complex in Bauchi.
Sani Babankawu explained that the organisation was established in nineteen eighty four with a core mandate of promoting discipline, Enforce orderliness and reduces corruption.
Others according to him was to support law enforcement as well as encourages civic responsibility among citizens. He pointed out that the organisation which has Volunteers across the country had over the years contributing to the advancement of Nati core values among Nigerians.
The Commandant however stressed the need for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation to evolve innovation ways of improving the activities of the brigade to cope with the present realities. Sani Adamu Babankawu also called on the Director General, National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Onilu to fulfill his promise of recruiting one thousand Volunteers from each of the thirty six state of the federation and FCT for the organisation to have adequate manpower.
While commending the outgone Director NOA in Bauchi State for her successful retirement after thirty five years of service, Sani Babankawu called on the incoming Director to build her legacy.
In her address, the outgone Director NOA in Bauchi State, Mrs Theresa Omaga expressed gratitude for witnessing the day and thank the staff of NOA Bauchi office for the support given to her while in office.
Theresa Omaga who also applauded the State Command of WAI Brigade for recognising her efforts charged the Volunteers not to relent in promoting as well as protecting Nigeria’s core values.
Highlights of the occasion were Pulling out Parade, presentation of award of excellence to the outgone Director and drama presentation.
