Plan International, has donated multi-million naira medical equipment and consumables to Bauchi State government for distribution to primary health facilities in the state.

The donation is under the Global Affairs Canada funded ASPIRE project, aimed at improving maternal, adolescent, newborn and child health as well as their well being.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Plan International’s Director Programme, Quality and Influencing, Dr Helen Idiong said the project’s intervention is in three areas, comprising Demand Creation, Service Delivery and Governance and Accountability.

She expressed conviction that the interventions offered to Bauchi state would positively impact adolescent girls and children’s lives through ensuring access to health facilities and services being rendered.

Dr Idiong assured the state government of the organisation’s commitment to support in ensuring accountability in the implementation of Child’s Right Law and any other relevant laws.

She informed that Plan International has renovated seven healthcare centres and was working on renovation of some schools together with introduction of skill acquisition programmes that would empower young persons to attain their full potentials.

Receiving the medical equipment and consumables, the Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed assured judicious distribution and appreciated Global Affairs Canada funded ASPIRE project for the gesture.

He noted that since inception, Plan International’s support to Bauchi was unqualified because it has touched lives of a number of mothers, adolescents and children.

While presenting the objectives of the intervention, the Senior Project Coordinator, Plan International’s ASPIRE project, Mohammed Nasir Musa said the support was not out of place considering Bauchi state’s demonstration of commitment since the last implemented BORN project.
