Good Leadership, Synergy Key to Success in Counter-Insurgency – GOC 8 Division

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, has emphasised that teamwork and synergy among security agencies are crucial for successful counter-insurgency operations.

General Ajose, who also serves as the Commander of Sector 2, Operation Hadarin Daji, gave the charge at the closing ceremony of a five-day Operations Planning Cadre held in Sokoto State.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, 8 Division Headquarters, Brigadier General Abubakar Suru, the GOC urged participants to apply the knowledge gained in strategic leadership, operational planning, and professionalism in their respective formations.

He expressed confidence that the training had equipped the officers with the necessary skills to enhance their decision-making and problem-solving abilities, stressing that they play a critical role in shaping the success of security operations.

According to him, the ability to effectively counter evolving threats depends on leadership, sound decision-making, and well-coordinated strategies by those at the frontline.

General Ajose noted that the training aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision of developing a cadre of officers with enhanced expertise, professionalism, and strategic thinking in addressing security challenges.

He advised the participants to conduct periodic reviews of past operations to improve future successes.

Our correspondent reports that the training also included personnel from other security agencies aimed at fostering inter-agency collaboration and enhancing collective operational effectiveness.
