YOBE GOVERNMENT ORGANISES 3 DAY TRAINING FOR YOUNG RELIGIOUS PREACHERS

Yobe state ministry for Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project has organised a three day religious engagement for young preachers on the imparative of peace and social cohesion.

The 3 day sensitization was organised with a view to encourage young Religious scholars to promote peaceful coexistence in their preaching activities and to desist from provocative utterances capable of creating tension, division and disharmony.

At the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the occasion and a former commissioner in ministries of Finance and Higher Education in the state Alhaji Muhammad Isma’ila Nguru who described the engagement as timely said , when properly guided the youth have significant roles to play in the restoration of peace especially in this post insurgency era across the North East.

Similarly, one of the speakers at the event Professor Sani Abdulmumin of University of Maiduguri emphasised the need to strengthen and enforce family values at the family level to minimise the rise in social vices in the societies.

In a goodwill message the Yobe state Commissioner of Police Ahmed Garba represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdulsalam Abdulrazak pointed out that, a significant number of those engege in criminal activities across Yobe state especially among the youth were the uneducated hence the need for parents and governments to pay more attention to the education of the younger generation

In their separate remarks the chairman of Damaturu local government management committee Bukar Adamu and the representative of the Emir of Ngazargamu and Waziri of the Emirate Alhaji Alamin Baba Kankare called for more collaborative effort to address the rise in criminal activities in Yobe state to facilitate faster recovery from the damages caused by Insurgency in the area.
Other highlights of the event were paper presentations by scholars, professionals and security experts.

The sensitisation for Yong Religious leaders is expected to be conducted sepratly in the 3 senatorial zones of the state.
